Biography of Mr. Michael Lund Jeppesen

Michael Lund Jeppesen took up his appointment as the Danish Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in September 2019.

Prior to this appointment, he was Chief Advisor for Foreign and Security Policy from 2015 to 2019 at the Danish Prime Minister’s Office and before that Danish Ambassador to Morocco, Tunisia and Mauretania.

Michael Lund Jeppesen has held a number of positions within the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including as Head of Department for the Middle East and North Africa, Deputy Head of Department for the Security Policy Department and Minister Counsellor at the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington DC.

From 2006 to 2009, he served as Head of Center for Terror Analysis at the Danish Security and Intelligence Service and was Head of Minister’s Office at the Danish Ministry of Defense from 1998 to 2001.

Having served in Sudan with UNHCR from 1992 to 1994, Michael Lund Jeppesen joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 1994.

He holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and International Relations.

Michael Lund Jeppesen is married and the proud father of two children.
